by Rodeo News

story by the Laurie Dineen

CJRA was well represented at the IFYR in Shawnee, Oklahoma this year. Our team kids were Kody Hoss (Breakaway, Goats), Zane Korinek (Saddle Bronc, Team Roping (got hurt first night in SB), Logan Kenline (Saddle Bronc, Calf Roping,Team Roping, Steer Wrestling), Justin Valliant (Calf Roping, Team Roping), Tyler Boxleitner (Calf Roping), Amanda Terrell (goats, breakaway, poles) Barrett Schleicker (Team Roping).
Tyler Boxleitner, Barrett Schleiker, Daniel Meeske, Grace Hill, Kasen and Kinlie Brennise, Sydney Odle, Chase Atkinson, Clyde Bolejack, Cody Huwa, Ava Zonneveld, Elle Eagles, Riley Lippes, Chadron Coffield and Faith Hoffman, also CJRA members competed at the IFYR representing other teams.
Established in 1993, the International Finals Youth Rodeo is an internationally recognized high school rodeo. “Known as the world’s richest youth rodeo, the IFYR is held annually in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and attracts the greatest high school rodeo athletes from around the world”. Events include barrel racing, pole bending, breakaway roping, goat tying, team roping, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, bull riding, saddle bronc riding and bareback riding. Over the years, this event has grown to 1,000 Youth contestants who showcase their best skills while competing for more than $250,000 in prize money!
The IFYR is not only challenging for the kids, but also the animals and the parents that work just as hard to get them to Shawnee. The stamina required for the level of competition for human and beast is compounded by the heat and humidity, however the IFYR complex, committee and volunteers readily accommodate the conditions to all who attend.

CJRA is proud of these members who competed at the IFYR and would like to congratulate and recognize those who placed in the short round:

Kody Hoss placed 6 in the final of goat tying, split 2-3 in the first round of breakaway and placed 10th in the breakaway final
Logan Kenline place 9th in the final of the saddle bronc event
Chadron Coffield made the short round in the calf roping and placed 9th overall.
Faith Hoffman won the 1st go of goat tying with a 6.9 second run and placed 13 in the final round.
