Meet the Member Alexis World

Alexis World has known what she wanted to do since she was a little girl.
The seventeen year old cowgirl, a member of the Utah High School Rodeo Association, remembers going to career day as a first and second grade student in her mom’s lab coat, with a stuffed animal. “I’ve wanted to be a vet since I was little, and it’s stayed with me,” she said.
In rodeo, she competes in the pole bending, barrel racing, cutting and reined cow horse. Of her events, she loves the reined cow horse the best.
The Heber City, Utah cowgirl is a senior at Wasatch High School, where biology is her favorite class. She took AP Biology last year and this year is taking veterinarian science class. She is on the high school swim team, where she does the freestyle, breast stroke, and the 200m and 400m medley relays.
For fun, she loves to hunt, fish, and spend time outdoors, including visiting Indian ruins and old ghost towns. Just recently, she had the chance to watch mustangs at Simpson Springs, one of the few BLM locations that allow people to go into the herd. She stood in the middle of the horses, watching them. “It was cool,” she said.
After high school, she will attend Utah State University. She may compete on the rodeo team or possibly join the equestrian team.
She has competed at state finals every year in the cutting and the last two years in the reined cow horse. This past summer, she competed at Silver State in the reined cow horse and finished in fourth place.
She has a younger sister, Karissa, who is thirteen. She is the daughter of Stewart and Heidi World.
