Meet the Member Sierra Terry

by Rodeo News

story by Ruth Nicolaus

Sierra Terry is the Utah Junior High School State Champion Barrel Racer.
The Nephi, Utah cowgirl also placed fourth in the pole bending at state last summer, and went on to represent her state at the National Junior High Finals.
In addition to barrels and poles, she competes in the goat tying and team roping, heading for Gracie Peterson. Of all her events, barrels are her favorite.
Her barrel horse is a seven year old sorrel named Bits, which her mom trained. Sierra trained her pole horse, Pebbles, who used to be her barrel horse. Her heading horse is a big powerful gray named Outlaw, and her goat tying horse is her dad’s old heel horse, J.B.
She is an eighth grade student at Juab Junior High in Nephi. She loves her ag science and P.E. classes, is a member of the FFA, and participates in volleyball and basketball. She is also on the honor roll.
When she grows up, she’d like to be a veterinarian and would like to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Her favorite barrel racer is Lisa Lockhart; she had the chance to meet her at the WNFR and got her autograph, which is hanging on her bedroom wall.
She has three older sisters (Heather, Katelyn and Camille), and two older brothers (Jared and Bradon). She is the daughter of Paul and Shelly Terry.
