Meet the Member Emily Williams

by Rodeo News

story by Ruth Nicolaus

Emily Williams loves to run barrels in the Louisiana High School Rodeo Association.
The fifteen year old cowgirl, a resident of Colfax, La., rides an eight year old bay named Sheba who is really consistent, but has a jumpy personality, Emily says. The family has owned the horse for about five years.
She is a sophomore at Tioga High School, where she loves the quality education she is getting and the teachers who care about their students. Her favorite subject is geometry, but she isn’t crazy about biology class. She participates in cheer, which she loves, and is on her school’s honor roll. Emily takes several advanced placement classes: World History AP, Biology 1 AP, English 2 AP, and Geometry AP.
Her favorite teacher ever was her sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Paul, who was very kind and giving. Miss Paul helped Emily with her studies, gave her popsicles, and treated her as the special person she is.
The Williams family has two pet dogs: Ariat, a mini-Australian shepherd, and Anne, a ridgeback.
When she grows up, she’d like to be a pediatrician.
She is the oldest of three, and that makes her more responsible, she thinks. “I have to be a good role model to them,” she says of her siblings Anna and Tyler, who are twelve.
She is the daughter of Brad and Jaime Williams.
