Meet the Member Wyatt Lawson

by Rodeo News

story by Ruth Nicolaus

Wyatt Lawson loves rodeo.
The rookie cowboy is in his first year of membership in the Utah Junior High School Rodeo Association, and he’s enjoying it very much. He loves to travel to new places, meet new people, and make new friends. And when he arrives at the next rodeo and one of his new friends greets him, he loves it.
Wyatt competes in the goat tying, team roping (as a header for Curry Wilkins), the chute dogging, and the breakaway roping. He’s been team roping the longest, but can’t choose a favorite: “I like them all.”
As an eighth grade student at Vernal Middle School, he likes history class and his favorite school lunch is the rib sandwich. He plays baseball and shows pigs in 4-H. His pig last year was a Hampshire barrow named Porky. Porky did well in the show ring, and Wyatt enjoyed his company, making it hard to sell him.
Wyatt also team sorts and likes to help out his grandpa with feeding cattle and horses, and loading and shipping cattle.
When he grows up, he’d like to be an electrical engineer.
He has two younger brothers: Carson (age twelve) and Quade (age ten.) Both boys compete in rodeo as well.
He is the son of Roy and Falon Lawson.
